Analyzing data on breastfeeding using dispersed statistical models
نویسنده
چکیده
Exclusive breastfeeding is the feeding of a baby on no other milk apart from breast milk. Exclusive breastfeeding during the first 6 months of life is very important as it supports optimal growth and development during infancy and reduces the risk of obliterating diseases and problems. Moreover, it helps to reduce the incidence and/or severity of diarrhea, lower respiratory infection and urinary tract infection. In this paper, we make a survey of the factors that influence exclusive breastfeeding and use two dispersed statistical models to analyze data. The models are the Generalized Poisson regression model and the Com-Poisson regression models. Keywords—Exclusive breastfeeding, Regression model, Generalized Poisson, Com-Poisson.

A study on exclusive breastfeeding using over-dispersed statistical models
Breastfeeding is an important concept in the maternal life of a woman. In this paper, we focus on exclusive breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding is the feeding of a baby on no other milk apart from breast milk. This type of breastfeeding is very important during the first six months because it supports optimal growth and development during infancy and reduces the risk of obliterating diseases...
متن کاملDoes the Dispersion Parameter of Negative Binomial Models Truly Estimate the Level of Dispersion in Over-dispersed Crash data with a Long Tail?
Despite many statistical models that have been proposed for modeling motor vehicle crashes, the most commonly used statistical tool remains the Negative binomial (NB) model. Crash data collected for safety studies may exhibit over-dispersion and a long tail (i.e., a few sites have unusually high number of crashes). However, some studies have shown that NB models cannot handle over-dispersed cou...
متن کاملImplementation of a Simple Method for the Analysis of Over - Dispersed Counts and Proportions
Over-dispersed binary and count data occur frequently in many fields of application. Examples include occurrence of cavity in one or more teeth, and development of tumors In one or more animals of a litter. Methods of statistical analysis that ignore over-dispersion underestimate standard errors. Consequently, coverage proportions of confidence intervals and significance levels of tests are dis...
متن کاملMaximum likelihood and Bayesian methods for estimating the distribution of selective effects among classes of mutations using DNA polymorphism data.
Maximum likelihood and Bayesian approaches are presented for analyzing hierarchical statistical models of natural selection operating on DNA polymorphism within a panmictic population. For analyzing Bayesian models, we present Markov chain Monte-Carlo (MCMC) methods for sampling from the joint posterior distribution of parameters. For frequentist analysis, an Expectation-Maximization (EM) algor...
متن کاملTransition Models for Analyzing Longitudinal Data with Bivariate Mixed Ordinal and Nominal Responses
In many longitudinal studies, nominal and ordinal mixed bivariate responses are measured. In these studies, the aim is to investigate the effects of explanatory variables on these time-related responses. A regression analysis for these types of data must allow for the correlation among responses during the time. To analyze such ordinal-nominal responses, using a proposed weighting approach, an ...
